PES Leaders meet three to five times a year. The meetings usually take place in Brussels on the eve of the European Council to discuss the major issues on the Council's agenda.
Last Leaders' Conference
On 23 June, PES Leaders called on the European Council to adopt a new approach towards the economic crisis. The strategy conservatives have applied in the last years has focused exclusively in cuts and austerity and has lead Europe to a stalemate. The EU needs a balanced, responsible economic governance in order to create jobs and to ensure that everyone has the same opportunities.
